Cineworld joins Bridge Street Quarter, Warrington


Leach Rhodes Walker's latest and most significant project in the heart of Warrington, can confirm that is has been announced today by Warrington Borough Council (WBC) in partnership with Warrington & Co., a deal has been signed with cinema operator Cineworld to open a site in Bridge Street Quarter's regeneration scheme.

Back in 2011, Leach Rhodes Walker Succesfully won with Muse Developments for the creation of a new leisure based quarter in the city's town centre, the scheme aims to breathe new life into a historic main street in Bridge Street Quarter, Warrington. The creation is a new mixed use development in the town centre bringing in a new public realm, a new town square, a new council ofice, a new signiture design market building, a new town centre multiplex along with new restaurants and new retail uses.

The Cineworld cinema is set to be opened in 2019 and will provide Warrington with a state-of-the-art, 13 screen, 2,500 seat, multiplex, multiscreen cinema.

Leader of Warrington Borough Council, Councillor Terry O’Neill said: “The signing of Cineworld is a major coup for Warrington town centre and is a huge stride forward for the Bridge Street regeneration scheme. The offer to the public is fantastic and we are thrilled that Cineworld have chosen to open in Warrington. Their decision demonstrates the appeal of Warrington as a location and the confidence that leading names within the retail and leisure industry have in the town.”

Kevin Frost, Property Director for Cineworld said: “We are delighted to have found the perfect home for our new cinema in Warrington. The proposed scheme will give us the room to offer our new customers the full choice of movies and formats available.”
